I was downtown yesterday during lunch and decided to eat there. The place was busy, and I really enjoyed my lunch. My burger and chips were great, and I'm glad you had a good choice of soda, especially Diet Dr. Pepper.

If I'm downtown during the day again, I'll definitely eat there again.

Any news About Teutenberg's?

They're open and doing fine from what I see. Even going to lunch late (1:30pm) there's still a decent crowd in there. I love the roast beef sandwich: every time I go in there I plan to try something else but keep going back to it.

Plus they don't give you the stink eye (like other places do) if you walk in any time after 1:15pm.

St. Louis' Oldest & Newest Restaurant. Open Monday thru Friday

a little before 7 till around 2:30. One of the few places downtown serving

full breakfast icluding pancakes, breakfast burritos, omelettes & homemade beignets. All lunch items are prepared fresh daily. The Roasted Meats are actually roasted daily not pre- cooked and sliced. Check out the roast turkey with brie and cranberry aioli. Also serving fresh salads, specialty sandwiches icluding the Fred's famous fishwich,

entrees and daily Chef selections.

^Darn. Doesn't do me any good. I live downtown but work in the county. The only times I could make it would be M-F for dinner or all day Sat & Sun.

Went downtown with the kids for the Christmas Lighting ceremony Wednesday night. We waited until afterwards to get something quick and cheap to eat and were confronted by the lack of suitable places open. We ended up in Jimmy Johns on Pine, but if I was a tourist or conventioneer it could prove to be a frustrating experience. I wish the city could provide some sort of tax break to encourage restaurants to stay open later. Perhaps it’s a chicken and egg type scenario but until more places are open after 5:00, people will continue to stay away. In addition, open restaurants provide more life to otherwise desolate street, It was scary how empty the CBD was at 7:00pm on a Friday with the exception of the activity around Macy*s.

At the very least, restaurants should extend their hours on evenings in which special events take place.

I know Bread Co. and Lions Choice extend for Cardinal games.

Oh C'mon pessimists :).

I have seen more and more life come to the St. Louis DT region. No longer is it a vacated place after dark. I think we are still 3 years away from DT being a late night week"day" event, but have no doubt STL has come back.

I can vouch for those beignets. They're not Cafe Du Monde's, but they make a much more interesting morning office treat than ye olde breadco bagels.

There always seems to be a mismatch between tourists and places open on weekends. This is true is any city, not just St. Louis. My rule of thumb is to scout places with a bar and chances are they'll be open. A sandwich shop or bakery will usually always be closed. Finer dining will always be open.

Any more reviews regarding this place??

How is the service? Most places Downtown the service needs work the staff just dosen't seem to care, they take for granted the customer will come back. But the customer today has a choice. Freindly service goes a Long way.

Would like to try it but unfortunately it's only open when I'm at work. I live downtown and work in West County. People seem to have good comments about the place otherwise. Best of luck, Chris.

Same here. I can't go unless it is open on weekends.

I've been to this place for lunch a couple of times. I actually recommend it. A decent menu at a decent price, and the daily specials are even moreso.

I've even had the pleasure of meeting Fred (of Dirt Cheap fame) himself.

I really want to try it. Like others here, I work in the county, so that means I usually don't get a chance to try downtown eateries during the week.

And, when I'm downtown on a weekday, I typically wind up eating at Papa Fabarre's since I love that place and I'm usually there to shop at Macy's anyway.
