Damn/good.

Maybe Double Helix could find space elsewhere in GC?

^Hopefuly. From what I hear, they just weren't in position to make the Sun happen right now. Meanwhile, someone else has stepped forward with a great proposal.

Grand Center hopes to accomodate Double Helix when they are ready (they've got lots of parking lots, remember  ).

i love the signage and neon background/sun beams. i wish they could add something similar to the front of the moolah theater. I don't think people realize it's a movie theater when they drive by..

Amazing before and after photos of the Sun Theater can be seen here.

Looks like the marquee still needs some work, but the building essentially is, "where historic meets contemporary".

Once Grand Center does more quality infills, one of its last big renovations, plus the implementation of the Grand Center Great Street Master Plan, Grand Center would have to become among the nation's well-respected theater districts.

GC has come a long way, but still has a ways to go.

Granted I have not seen it in persson, I don't like the harsh color temperature of the lighting and the colors shown in photographs could have been more sophisticated. Still , happy to see the theatre brought to life.

I think it looks great, and didn't know it was already finished. I think the photographs went through some heavy post processing. I can't wait to see it in person.

Go to the "Commerical" link and they're mixed in there. The "Before and After" folder shows off his Photoshop skills.

My reaction exactly. But I am thrilled to see it renovated and in use!

I don't know what the inside of the Sun used to look like, but I enjoy the color palette myself. I don't think everything needs to feel the same as the Fox or the Peabody, which are obviously beautiful. There's room for some "louder" beauty if you will. While not even in the same ballpark as far as elegance, these colors remind me of the ones currently (which is based on some period of it's history, I believe) in use at the Hi-Pointe theatre, another great treasure of ours.

Seeing those pictures makes you realize just how fortunate we are to have so much history and beauty that lots of cities don't have..We're slowly restoring our history into the 21c... I can honestly say stunning doesn't even describe how far that building has come..

Got a peek the other day - amazing job - I was in the building about 6 years ago - never dreamed that it would turn out as good as it did
