^I think he will go for full ownership of the Rams and a majority stake in Arsenal. He has slowly purchased more and more shares of the EPL club. I think he has enough money to own the Rams, a majority share of Arsenal and the Denver teams and facility. He is one of the richest men in America and his wife is a Walmart heir.

It would work out perfect because Arsenal is my favorite EPL team. :D

I have to say that an NFL stadium in the County is an idea I support. I just don't think that the negatives (parking, superblock, dead space much of the year) outweigh the positives of ~60K fans 8x a year.
I like the idea of putting a facility on the former Chrysler site. Maybe Jeff Cooper and Kroeke could team up and use the stadium for Futbol and football. Cooper could use the Soccer Park for the Athletica and a training facility for our new MLS team.

Regarding the Dome, I think it can stay useful with large national events like NCAA regionals every couple of years, concerts, motor sports, conventions, etc... If the Rams move, maybe the City could spend some money to turn it into less of a football venue and more of a facility for non-football events. Maybe they could subtract seats and reconfigure to make it more basketball friendly for the final four and other events. I think the Rams leaving Downtown will negatively impact the City, but again, if it keeps the team here long term, I'm all for it.

From what I understand, there is no "majority share" of Arsenal. He owns 29.9%, and if he buys a few more shares to get to 30%, he is compelled by UK law to buy the remaining shares.

^I've heard that EPL or really any European futbol team is not a good investment or a money maker, unless you can market the heck out of it globally. Even the mighty Manchester United is hurting. I wonder what Stan's motivation is in buying Arsenal. I would assume it is a good investment, but what do I know. I do know the Rams are a good investment right now, considering he can get the team at a reasonable price and it should grow significantly in value over the next several years. It is a no brainer for Stan. I hope he gets it done fast and in a painless manner. I'd like to see him bring Kahn in as a minority owner, maybe 15-25%. Time will tell if the billionaire club lets in Kroenke as the 100% stake owner, even though they have the cross-ownership rules. He fits the bill 100% as an NFL owner. Is a billionaire, his wife is, he owns other teams, has been an NFL owner for 15 years, what else do they want??!!

I heard 2 far out conspiracy theories regarding Kroenke's motives for buying the team. Me personally, I believe he wants to own an NFL team, period! 2 local sports talk shows discussed the 2 theories.

1) Kroenke's full name is Enos, Stanley Kroenke, named after Stan the Man and Enos Slaughter. His father was a HUGE Cards fan. The theory is that his goal is to have a sports empire in St. Louis and eventually buy the Cards, along with owning the Rams.
2) This morning I heard a 2nd theory. That Stan would move the Rams to LA and make sure the league moves the Jaguars to St. Louis. The thought is that the League wants a team in STL, but wants the Rams in LA, for tradition and marketing purposes.
*Both are out there, but you never know with this franchise what could happen next.

This is why I don't listen to sports talk radio.

^Actually it was Martin K. on the second theory and I'm not sure on the first, but they were discussing it on the e-mac show. Slaten is innocent, THIS TIME. :D

Neither host believed the theories were accurate or have any substance, but did waste air time talking about them.

^^^Agreed, they are ridiculous.

As much as I enjoy listening to sports talk radio in Boston - that's exactly how much I despise listening to it here in St. Louis.

Sounds like Stan is just simply making a move on a great opportunity. How many NFL minority owners dream of their franchise becoming available at a low price during a downturn in the economy in which its writtten in stone that you get first right to take full ownership. The icing on the cake, The current lease agreement essentially gives the RAMS owner and the NFL a free pass to move the team in 2014. Heck, Stan is buying a franchises valued at 750 million for which he already owns 40% and could have it playing in a new stadium in a market bigger then Chicago bears for which the value is automatically in the billions. First, why not make a play for the team. Second, Kahn either has a lot of smart people telling him the same thing or is thinking the same himself. Either way, St. Louis metro area won't have leverage let alone a say until a plan, with a means of financing in place, to deal with the stadium lease happens. That means four years until D-Day.

^I just don't buy, at this point, that a Missouri guy, who is very connected in
St. Louis, who operates a large % of his biz in Missouri, would up and move the team in 2014. I think Kroenke will make every effort to keep the team in St. Louis. I think the Jags will already be in LA by 2014. I do think the Dome is doomed, at least as the Rams home. Outside of LA, I really cannot think of a better market than St. Louis, that does not already have an NFL franchise. LA is the only threat and I think the Jags are going there. Maybe Stan will Bring in Kahn as a minority owner, groom him as an owner and then sell to him, buy the Broncos when they go on the market. All we can do is speculate at this point.

We know one person who doesn't have to speculate. It is interesting to note the Broncos. I'm still convinced its all about the NFL and not St. Louis for Stan K. He has his hands on NBA, MSL, NHL all in Denver and not in St. Louis. He could have been making the same plays in St. Louis when the Blues came up for sale.

The commissioner likes Stan, and so do the other owners.
The commissioner said firmly he wants the Rams to stay in StL, and that the new owner should mirror this intent.
Stan said he'd sell off his Denver interests to close the deal properly.
Stan also said he wants the Rams in StL to stay.

I do think that, if Stan ever had the thought in his head of moving to LA, Tagliabue would have shaken him until that thought came out his ear, splashed on the floor, and was kicked into the corner. Otherwise, Khan would have the owners' support right now. My only thought is that, if there was a way to include Khan in the final ownership structure, it could free the Rams up to become an even better team and help secure whatever needs to be done to the Jones Dome (or whatever may be).

I'd love to see Khan as the face of the Rams, with Kroenke as the money man.

Looks like Josh K. will run the Denver teams. The NFL really wants Stan to own the Rams. As long as he keeps the team here, so do I.

RE Josh - that lucky SOB. Rich, smart, good looking dude who was a div1 basketball player, and now inheriting 2 pro sports franchises, etc etc etc. That guy turns away more tail in one night than this board lands in an entire year.
