The bankruptcy of TWA and economic downturn following 9/11 had nothing to do with Griggs leaving and everything to do with losing our hub status.

Does anyone know how soon this would turn around if it went well? Next summer or are we talking two from now?

The route would make sense, especially considering BA has codeshare with AA. This could be the route anyone flying to western Europe could take.

Curious on where your hearing that from. PD's article on Slay visit suggest nothing to lead to that conclusion. Just a rehash of Slay's tweets

My brother was changing planes in Dallas Monday and saw this. Must be throw-back jersey day at AA.

American Airlines has rolled out the last of its “Heritage Plane” paint jobs that pay homage to the carriers in its merger family tree.

The latest two classic liveries are for TWA and AirCal, each of which was acquired by American and folded into the American brand. American acquired AirCal in 1987 and TWA in 2001. AirCal became the last of American's seven Heritage Planes to begin flying passengers when it went back into service on Sunday.

Howsabout a throwback hub operating out of a (soon-to-be-throwback) Lambert-St. Louis?

I really with they had used the final TWA livery. I think it was the classiest we've had in the US for sometime.

The heritage liveries were only done for the carriers that were directly acquired by and subsequently merged into either American Airlines or US Airways. The heritage livery concept is from the 'new' Tempe management, old AA would have never done such a thing. US Airways introduced the heritage liveries after their merger with America West and also did several sports teams liveries in hubs and cities with a major operational presence (Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles).

AA has more than a simple code-share with British Airways, they have received anti-trust immunity and would share revenue on this potential route. AA has a team on-site at Waterside (BA Headquarters) and any route announcement would likely be made jointly. I am still of the opinion that should any of this come to pass, AA metal is still better suited for the market. While to some here having BA at Lambert may seem "sexy", the layout of passenger accommodation (LOPA) on the AA 763 or 788 is much better suited for the market, but IMO filling 28 J-cabin seats will be difficult. I know it's fashionable to flame on here AA, but you must remember that they still have a large presence of employees, operations, and capabilities in St. Louis. The trip could be flown by the SLT in-flight base, and likely would be built as four day trip for the pilots (out of another base, like it is done for 174/173 LHR-RDU-LHR). BA would have to open up an entirely new point, which would be contracted out and certain functions would likely be handled by AA personnel in STL in a contractual arrangement.

Nothing major, but an article about Air Choice one wanting to start flights to another smaller town in Arkansas from STL. Although, it is only 30 minutes from Branson so that could be a bonus for people here also.
