According to <A HREF="http://www.stlalamode.com/">STL A La Mode</A>, the roundabout in front of the St. Louis Gast Haus (at 18th and Chouteau) will be officially closed to vehicular traffic and used as a beer garden/patio for the restaurant.

Well, I'm all for beer gardens, but I wish they would OPEN the turn-around/parking area to through traffic. The Gast House just seems so cut-off from Lafayette Square. We need MORE connections, not less! Can't they just expand the sidewalk, and put a bunch of tables out there?

This sign may have been up for a long time or new. I have not noticed it before, but
it could be old. It it on the building the Gast Haus is in. It says that
this is the "future site of the Hoffbrau haus, pub in rear". Anyone know if this is
an old sign and idea that faded with the bad economy or if this is a new
addition to the Gast Haus? That would be awesome if they opened a venue like
the Hofbrau house, even though they may have an issue with that name...

That sign has been up a long time, to be honest, I amkind of surprised they are still going, it always seems quite around there
