Well that's great then. I hope he did indeed say that and does feel that way. There seem to be some unknowns with Stenger, but I'm optimistic he'll be good for the region.roger wyoming II wrote:^ this was a more recent statement from just a few weeks ago... I'm sure it will come up again soon so there will be clarification.
Here is a 7/29/14 quote from Stenger (CBS Local), relating to the "merger" and Google Fiber. Easier said than done getting GF here, but at the very least, he recognizes the need for things like Google Fiber.
He also blamed the Dooley administration for losing out on a $70 million investment for high-speed Google Fiber service.
“We could have had that here in St. Louis County, and the reason cited by Google was a lack of a cooperative government—cooperation by way of the various municipalities, right of ways, and just basically all of the things that you need to bring that sort of infrastructure to St. Louis County,” he said.
Brennan asked Stenger about one of the more controversial topics in the race, the City-County merger.
“I am taking an analytical approach,” Stenger said. “I think that it is not prudent at this point to make a really political decision about that, and at this point, that’s all it would be.”

^That's all I've ever heard him say regarding City/County. Here's Stenger on Charlie Brennen

Dooley has said he's for reentry and said it on Charlie Brennen last week.

I wouldn't expect him to say anything substantive about a potential merger until after the election.
^ I agree. If Stenger comes out pro merger/reentry he will lose the election.
^ The general election won't be close.... Stream doesn't have the energy/dynamism to overcome the enormous hurdles facing any GOP candidate. Plus with a newborn, Stenger could say he does coke for breakfast and still win.
And for the record, my recollection wasn't that he was necessarily pro-reentry but that he would have no problem with the City re-entering the County if that is what voters supported; so I don't think that is a stance that could hurt him at all.

The fractured County politics are sure on display for the world to see. The Ferguson events surely will have some impact the Stenger/Stream race but I still believe it is an extremely uphill climb for Stream. Both have been publicly quiet on the issue so far but I know Stenger was down on Canfield helping deliver supplies.
It is an interesting dynamic in play now that Dooley won't be County Executive and we'll see if the new leader is of goodwill and can move the region forward with inclusion and greater unity over the long haul.

^ Absolutely.
I mentioned elsewhere that at least 1/3 of those three dozen or so municipal police forces featured on today's STL Post-Dispatch front page need to be disbanded. I think even a relatively small step such as disbanding the police forces in communities with less than 10-15,000 people could go a long way along toward change, along with the County PD committing to being a national leader in community policing.

I don't know all of these names, but 3 of them immediately jump out as being very progressive and hopefully bode well for solid transportation & land use policies....

Only a few names are familiar to me. The main two being Les Sterman and Bob Blitz. It's good to see them on Stenger's team. May mean the county will play ball on both transit and the Rams stadium.
Is that the Bob Clark from clayco? I thought he abandoned StL and moved to Chicago!
A lotta roads to take care of.

Two election charges are misdemeanors, while the stealing money are felonies.

Edited to fix, thx.
Scam Page has it coming. His corruption and mismanagement have been to the detriment of the county. It's sad that the state keeps having to step in to save the voters from themselves. Much like the current situation with our sheriff or the PA.
The case is beyond stupid. Bailey is going to lose it if it doesn’t get dropped
Yeah, after a read through, it seems thin. The felonies are going to be particularly difficult to convict on.
