@StlAlex Without agreeing or disagreeing with you... This is a thread on Corporate Mergers, Acquisitions, and Relocations in the STL area. This is not a thread on national politics. Perhaps start one. Either way, let's keep the conversation on point here. Thanks
Pretty sure the politics in this case is inherently tied to the merger or acquisition of the company that owns St. Louis' largest newspaper.gone corporate wrote:@StlAlex Without agreeing or disagreeing with you... And the shifting of media publications, large or small, to the "center" because they'e too "far left", in particular, the Post-Dispatch, is very much a local issue related to this merger and/or acquisition.
That's the objective reality being lost.

OK, let’s keep it to “the business”. The Hoffman family completely botched the development of Augusta. Oversold and underdelivered, all the while stiffing the people who did work for them. They’re rent seekers - nothing more. I hope nothing but losses and misery in their latest business venture.

I am happy that he is moving printing of the Post back to the area in Washington. I also like how he wants more focus on local issues. Hoffman lost me with the Augusta mess but perhaps he can redeem himself with the Post.

HDA, the 15th largest architecture firm in St. Louis, is moving from Forest Park Southeast to Chesterfield.

The point is it's going way further from downtown while we supposedly are supposed to be revitalizing downtown and attracting businesses. A loss for the city is a loss for the city, it feels worse when there aren't any wins to point to like there were over the last few years.dbInSouthCity wrote:Oh thank god it wasn’t the 14th largest

^Yes, but I find this relocation minimally concerning. The downfall of Green Street is the cause more than the actions of the City or its attractiveness as a place to do business. True outlier case here. Glad they're still in STL region, even if no longer in City and contributing to City's tax base.
HOK recently moved in to Peabody Plaza from the Equitable Building on S. Broadway, and the P-D published a photo gallery showing off their new HQ.

Why no surprise? I don't keep up with the theme park business so I'm curious, is Six Flags flagging?

^ There have been many rumors regarding Six Flags-STL for some time.
At least the new owner is Missouri basedDogtownBnR wrote:Six Flags sold to Enchanted Parks. No surprise.....

^Every time someone brings up Six Flags my mind goes to whoever mentioned Six Flags moving to East STL... would be such a better spots for them and the views would be amazing...
That's one thing I loved about Cedar Point was how close it was to the lake.pattimagee wrote: ↑5:59 PM - Mar 05^Every time someone brings up Six Flags my mind goes to whoever mentioned Six Flags moving to East STL... would be such a better spots for them and the views would be amazing...
Disney should right a wrong….. it won’t happen but it is fun to think about.
I'd lease out the front half to Great Wolf Lodge for a resort hotel and an indoor water park attached to Hurricane Harbor.

I saw that the park will keep the Six Flags name. I assume the name will eventually be changed to Enchanted Parks-St. Louis or something like that. I wonder how long it will take people, especially out of town folks to figure that out.
Also, I wonder if Enchanted will invest in the park or just maintain it.
I always thought Six Flags did well. It seemed to me when I visit that it was a multi-State destination, as the parking lot was dotted with Arkansas, TN, OK & other State plates, along with MO & ILL. I know the water park has gotten a bad wrap lately as being kind of dirty & overcrowded, but lots of water parks get that label. As far as I know, teenagers & tourists still flock there regardless.

I read it as only for this year.
Mid-America by Enchanted Parks will be the new name. Enchanted Parks has signed a 40-year lease with EPR Properties, so residents shouldn’t be worried about the company closing the park and selling to developers, he said. Harhl said he couldn’t disclose the monetary value of the St. Louis park, but Harhi called it the most valuable of the seven parks Six Flags is selling for a combined $331 million to EPR Properties. He said it initially wasn't included for sale. “It’s a unique park. We really pushed for Six (Flags) to include St. Louis,” Harhi told the Post-Dispatch Friday. “It’s a valuable property." Harhi said Enchanted Parks will use this year to figure out what visitors want, which rides are popular and how operations work. He said the company looks forward to fixing up the amusement park and injecting it with life. “It should be seeing new attractions on a consistent basis,” Harhi said.
This could be great for the park and St. Louis.
