Kind of cool that the very first Second Empire home ever built in St. Louis still exists today (it's an Italianate now).

Here are some row house shots from my recent walk with SP...

Victor Street:


This set had escaped me for years.  Tucked away at the end of Victor Street in Benton Park, it just barely escaped the path of 55.  This one needs some restoration as the cornice didn't survive.  Though the unit on the end has had their portion restored:


A long set on Lynch:


Missouri Avenue:


And a few older ones from Mississippi Avenue in Lafayette Square.  According to Nathan's video, Mark Twain likely visited the home on the far left a number of times as he knew a steamboat pilot that lived there.


James B. Eads, builder of the Eads Bridge, built the two mansard roofed homes on the right as investment properties:
