Thanks for the update. We always appreciate any info straight from the developer. The building already looks better than it did with the old facade.

IMO - it's another great step forward for the area between Midtown and the CWE. IF a serious shopping center (think the long rumored Target, etc.) were to pop up on FPP anytime in the next few years this area is really going to BOOM!

By the way, I'm constantly impressed by the rents people are getting for apartments - granted these aren't rented yet, but they're very similar numbers to other successful projects.

^ For the record, the building in question is in Midtown.

^ True - despite the address I was picturing this building in the circa 41XX block . . .

The building looks better already with the brick exposed. I can't wait to see the finished product!

Spring Street Lofts sign is up and a ton of brick replacement/restoration has been going on... I think is going to be a neat looking place... Hopefully I can get some pics up shortly...

A SLU prof on the Billiken board says there's a brewpub going in across the street from the Spring Street Lofts, by the Jimmy John's. Anyone know anything about it?

Does that JJ's get any business? It seems like the worst possible location.

At lunch the place can be packed with the line out the door and parking hard to find. It seems like a horrible location but they seem to be holding their own.

I bet they do a brisk delivery business to SLU.

Joe wrote about it.

And I talked to a guy working in the place who did mention brewpub. Was nowhere near completion at that point 6 weeks ago.

Not just SLU, but SLU Medical Complex, Harris Stowe as well as BJC and Wachovia...I would bet that keeps them hopping

Building Blocks is reporting that a new bar/restaurant called the Library Annex is slated to open in this building.

I am one of the developers of this project, and wanted to give a bit of information on the new restaurant located on the first floor of the Spring Street Lofts. As of Wednesday we opened The Library Annex. This is a 7,000 +/- square foot restaurant bar on the first floor. We have six beers on tap, and many more in the bottle, as well as a full line of liquor. Our menu is in flux, but is American fare. The decor is that of a traditional library, hence the name, other than the tv's, games, and dance floor lights. We have lots of high definition televisions that play all of your favorite sporting events. There are 4 pool tables, 3 dart boards, shuffleboard, a foosball table, and four beer pong tables. There is a large dance floor that is open on the weekends with different DJ's each weekend. We are open M-F 4 to 1:30 and 11:00 until 1"30 on the weekends. We should be getting our 3AM license sometime in the near future. For what it's worth...

I have been to the Annex several times since it opened, and it is awesome! Exactly what the SLU area needed--a really nice bar. Students have been flocking to it so far. If you are ever in the area, you should check it out. My friend, who works on Washington, described it perfectly as "Washington Avenue meets SLU."

The Library Annex is definitely a major hit with SLU students. I'm nwt a frequent customer and it's not surprising to find a line outside because the bar is filled to capacity. It's definitely as popular, if not more popular now, than Humphrey's and Lacledes!

As for the apartments above, I toured them about a month ago and if I had the cash, I'd be a resident. Inside is definitely brand new, but if you can get an apartment with an exterior wall, the windows and brick walls are awesome.

Two thumbs up for the developers of this project. Now if only you would develop the still vacant Met on Grand...that building just screams to become lofts or dorms!

I've only been to the Annex once, but I really enjoyed it. Great decor. We went at dinner time, and it wasn't crowded yet.
