Garcia Properties is planning a rehab of 4301 S. Kingshighway (just south of Winona) into 16 apartments and 3 commercial spaces. The permit application date was 7/27/26 in the amount of $1.5 million.

3 commercial spaces is a lot to market here. I think they'll have more luck with residential and one corner retail.

Theyre going all in on the retail it seems. Theyre trying to fill a ton of retail in the Kingshighway and Chippewa building.

^I'd swear there was a (different and larger) Jack in the Box  on that site when I was a kid. They have a pretty long history in the area. Not quite White Castle long, but pretty long. For odd reasons, this is making me miss Del Taco. (Long story.)

A new coffee shop called Deja Brew is very close to opening at 5441 Hampton. I believe this is a second location to one that already exists in Carrolton, IL, but I really couldn't say for sure.

This building was previously occupied by a smoke shop that was shut down by the city last year, and before that it was an AT&T store.
