Reviewed in the RFT this week. I went this afternoon for lunch. The falafel was excellent with a spicy tahini sauce, but the star of the show was of course the Gyro. Really, really good. The place is in a small storefront (in a great historic building) on the east side of Grand just south of Bates. Ambiance isn't great, but the food kicks ass. Go there. Go there now.

/that is all.

From my home, I can almost throw a rock and hit the place. And I love gyros. I will head there ASAP! 8)

Went there last night.

Best gyro in St. Louis.

Yummy cucumber yogurt sauce.

I went there last night. The Gyro was good and the guy/owner couldn't be nicer, but I don't think it's the best in STL. I think St. Louis Coffee Oasis on Euclid is the best.

I think that this place is better than Coffee Oasis because the meat they use in their gyros appears to be of a higher quality. Coffee Oasis has good flavor, but I always end up with one or two really hard "things" (ie. tiny bone chip) in the meat in each sandwich. Has not happened at South Grand Express.

We finally got around to trying South Grand Gyro Express this evening. And now, we have a new favorite place to go for gyros! I ordered a traditional gyro while my wife got a chicken gyro- both were excellent. The former is $5.99, the latter is $6.99, and a huge helping of crispy and tasty fries is just $1.50 more.

All I know is that there are several places in St. Louis where one can get a good gyro, but this place has zoomed to the top of my list after my first visit! And, it's nice to have another great place close to home, since I get jealous when I think of what some of you in other city neighborhoods have just blocks from your homes! 8)
