Finally!

Love this part...

SLU’s goal is to get students out into the city in which they live. As a Jesuit university, SLU believes it is important that students engage with campus neighbors and surrounding communities.

Sounds great. Now, let's just hope the students utilize it and can get past viewing Metro as a welfare program only for poor black people.

^ yup, it's just a "pilot" for freshman class so hopefully it works out and expands.

I hope city/county leaders encourage Wash U., Fontbonne, Webster (downtown campus), and Harris-Stowe to quickly follow suit. Let's flood Metro with college students.

^ Does Wash U no longer supply free passes? I know when I attended some classes at UMSL they provided a supplement that I took advantage of for monthly passes.

I'm pretty sure Webster and WashU already participate but I don't know about any others.

WashU has been giving out free passes to students and staff since the Cross County extension opened in 2006.

STLCC started last year.

UMSL provides Metro passes if you enroll in 9 hrs or more...

Student Metro Passes
Fall 2014 Metro Passes are available at no additional charge for all students registered in the current semester. The pass allows for unlimited access to Metro services during the 2014 Fall Semester.

Fall metro passes are valid from Aug 11 - Jan 1, 2015

Replacements for lost or stolen Metro passes are limited to one per term at a cost of $25.00.

When I was at STLCC I had to buy the $150 semester passes, which were still a pretty good deal.

This is great news, but I can't believe they're telling students to get to Metrolink using the SLU shuttle rather than the 70 Grand! The 70 Grand runs from 4 AM to 1:30 AM, with buses running every 12 minutes during peak times - every 20 minutes off-peak, while the shuttle only runs every 20 minutes from 7AM to 7PM M-F: http://www.metrostlouis.org/Libraries/M ... 083115.pdf
How do I get to the MetroLink station?
Weekdays between the hours of 7:00AM - 7:00PM, SLU provides a shuttle service that stops at the Grand Metro Station while travelling between the Frost and Medical Center campuses.

For more information about the Grand Shuttle route and schedule, click here. For anyone needing special assistance to the MetroLink platform, please contact Transportation Services ahead of time so we can make proper arrangements.

^ I guess we'll have to take small steps for now.

I asked Metro and they confirmed besides WashU and SLU, UMSL, SWIC, Webster and St. Louis Community College also are part of the U-Pass program

But only WashU operates their shuttles through Metro. If SLU did the same, it would be a major achievement. You know those guys run a shuttle to the airport!!! Seriously that's dumb.
