metro will have a new service aviable next month. similar to what is done in chicago, just type in two adresses and instead of driving directions(whcih driving blows anyway), you get transit directions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And how does that help the poor tourist from out of town standing at a cold bus stop/metrolink platform?

Now that we actually have a system map they need to be posted at each stop with systemwide timetables otherwise it's useless. Telling visitors to go online or to the convention center to get a paper map is simply unacceptable.

Maybe not for tourists, but hey- people new to city living and public transit in general will use it. I will tell you that when I first got to Chicago and was really perplexed by all the bus lines I used it a great deal. I bet a lot of people don't use it out of fear of not knowing how to use it and just give up before looking too much into it. It could get people over that initial curb and get some people on the trains and buses.

Not blind just dumb.

As one in the marketing business, it was my assumption it was live because the press release/news articles (should) coincide with the launch.

Unless they're going to do a bigger PR blitz, I bet a lot of people went to the site and, like most things with Metro, were disappointed.

The whole website really is fabulous now. The tripfinder feature is especially amazing, because it can even give you a choice between different routes or different amounts of walking between transfers (unlike Google Maps, etc).
