Quick blurb from Van Der Werf this morning:
OLD IS NEW: Here's a story to tell someone who thinks old buildings can't be salvaged.
"No one had paid the utilities ... for 50 years," William Roth said of the building at 360 North Boyle Street that he has spent the last year restoring. "It didn't have a roof most of that time."
The building, on a rapidly regentrifying block next to the old Gaslight Square, is now home to the Eleven Inc., Roth's advertising agency. A woman's boutique, Isoke Couture, launched over the weekend in the building. A hair salon will open next.
Roth has spent about $1 million buying and restoring the building. Look for it to be honored later this month by the Landmarks Association of St. Louis as one of the area's "most enhanced" buildings.
