From Bird's Eye. This quarter-circle building piqued my interest. Can anyone tell me what it is?

I assume it's some kind of (likely abandoned) industrial complex.

It's a roundhouse from when that was the Baltimore and Ohio Railroads East St. Louis yard and engine terminal. It was used to service steam locomotives arriving and departing from St. Louis. As far as I know, it's the only one in the area still standing.

I always thought this should be rehabbed as a industrial/historical museum. Much like in Faust park with the log cabin recreating a pioneer village.

1920s era industrial sites are rare, historically arcane and would be awesome if preserved in an interactive/experiential way.

It's too bad they can't do anything with it.

I'm guessing the whole complex is abandoned. There looks to be some smaller buildings along there as well.

I can't find much info online on it.

Also, I'm guessing this is the Gateway Geyser:

Cool. I didn't know there were any roundhouses left around here. If that's the last one, it should definitely be saved. Some kind of industrial museum seems the logical choice.

Anyone got a spare $10 million?

I think this building is right in the path of the ramp up to the proposed I-70 near-north bridge.

Does being Illinois decrease the chance of the building be saved (if it has a chance at all)?

The reason I say that is that being on the Illinois side kind of in the middle of nowhere may make someone think that it's not worth the cost to fix up.

Also, if historic tax credits applied, does Illinois offer them?

It looks like there's some other big building to the right, there, but Bird's Eye doesn't cover it. But looking on satellite view at it I can't tell if it's part of the same complex or not.
