What is the feasibility of a BRT system with similar lines as the old streetcar routes? Are there discussions of any sort of BRT line? I feel that it would be a cheaper way to make STL a world class public transit city when thinking about how expensive and long it can take for light rail to get built

Great question! Bus rapid transit or BRT is a viable public transit option and one that has seen success across the U.S. -- most notably in Los Angeles (Orange Line), Cleveland's HealthLine (funded primarily by the Cleveland Clinic) and the star BRT line of late, Indiana's IndyGo with the the addition of Bus Rapid Transit lines Red, Purple and Blue lines. The beauty of BRT is its strong investment in infrastructure (i.e. station platforms, rider amenities, and signal optimization) and bus amenities such as 60-foot articulated configurations, WiFi and better seating. Lastly, BRT lines may serve as a precursor to potential LRT (Light-Rail) feasibility. As for St. Louis, BRT is a possibility, as this mode has been considered made by Bi-State Development, its partners in local jurisdictions and via the East-West Gateway Council of Governments. That being said, light-rail remains king and is currently being considered as the preferred option via the NORTHSIDE-SOUTHSIDE METROLINK CORRIDOR STUDY. In my opinion, BRT makes the most sense, but who am I to say? :)
