""It's going to keep us from partying, which I think is a good thing," Sandweg said. "I could see where people could take advantage of [being further away].""

BWAHAHAHA. That's rich. We had Greek houses essentially on campus at Bradley, and there was no shortage of partying. Ditto at UIUC.

There are going to be greek "social mixers" no matter if greek housing is built or not. So at least if the greek housing is on campus drinking a driving is drastically reduced, if not completely stopped all together. I was part of a Fraternity at SUIe and one of the biggest problems we faced was making sure no one was drinking then driving. We had a schedule for when you were a sober brother, who would not drink at a party and drive people home, almost like a taxi service. But if the houses are on campus you can just walk to you dorm/apartment or your room if you live in the house.

Isn't SIUE a Division I school now? Time to start acting like it. By drinking, that is.

Joking aside, Greek life is part of the college environment. This will eventually move SUIE out of the perceived 'commuter school' label.

I look forward to this university bringing in kids from throughout the Midwest and funneling them into St. Louis after graduation!
