Fascinating that "high" gas prices aren't reducing demand.

Fuel sales were down 3.99% this June versus last year. The state continues to shoot itself in the foot by promoting and coercing endemic car dependency by how much wealth leaves the state because of it.

Did anyone get a refund?

Stltoday - Save your gas receipts? Missouri motorists can soon claim another gas tax refund.

Following the end of that fiscal year, motorists were only refunded $434,000 of an estimated $82 million generated by the fuel tax increase, according to the Department of Revenue.

The department said it had paid out refunds to 15,590 entities over the last year, including an estimated 15,170 individuals and 418 business entities.

^Pretty sure my time is more valuable doing other things. I'm a proponent of raising fuel taxes anyway.

MO gas tax went up 2.5 cents today. Will you take the time to get your refund this year? You might get $10s of dollars back, totally worth your time.

IL gas tax went up 2 cents today since it goes up with inflation. Smart policy, though CPI and road building costs inflation aren't the same, but better than nothing. KSDK did a story on new IL laws that included many whiney drivers . Maybe someday they'll ask why they have to drive so much.

the refund is such a good example of how insidiously one can make ridiculous public policy seem reasonable.    If you can get back a few hundred buck you will almost certainly not both to file for a refund, but if you are a bussiness which drives a lot you are definitely filing for a refund.  The more you use roads the more incentivized you are to not pay for them  Its crazy upside down world and Its clearly a way to allow the heaviest road users an avenue to avoid funding the public infrastructure they use.
