Anyone know what they are working on? They have been flattening/demolishing several blocks in the area right off of 70 at the North Broadway exit. It seems like it could be a pretty large project. Warehousing or are they just prepping the land to attract investment? I don't drive by there every day but I will try and take a few pictures the next time that I do.

Now that Becker Iron & Metal moved over to IL, there is a lot of empty land in the area.

^ Alex, believe your correct on the truck plaza. If I recall correctly, the metal place was offered incentives to go across the river after the numbers according to the city showed the truck plaza generating more tax revenue. Of course, not sure how the numbers work once all the incentives that the truck plaza also gets. Either way, can't say their is any winners but both sides of the river claimn a win. I guess you got a gentlemans border war on this side of the state.

I also believe the city wanted to see a truck plaza as part of their plan to redevelop the North Side Industrial area. In other words, ideal location for trucks coming and going off I-70. So why not grab the business of servicing those trucks.

That makes sense. They just put in a new large truck/car station at Grand and 70 too. I was hoping it would be a new factory.

We sell our scrap metal to Becker and their new facility is much better. They built a huge warehouse, so it seems that the deal worked out for them.
