This really isn't a prediction for 2006, but the St. Louis Business Journal has a section featuring/previewing more than 60 major projects planned for 2006. The Journal has a lot more details for each project, but here is a summary on a few projects included in the list:
- The Bottle District begins to take shape with the first phase scheduled to be completed by Spring 2007
- The CORTEX building is expected to be completed by early 2006.
- The transformation of the Dillard's building into condominiums and a hotel should start in the Spring of 2006.
- Two of the three McGowan|Walsh owned Cupples Station buildings will be under renovation while HRI and Conrad Properties continue work on their Cupples Station buildings.
- Joe Edwards expects to start construction in late 2006 on his boutique hotel along the St. Louis side of the Delmar Loop. Edwards also expects to secure financing to begin engineering studies on the Delmar Loop trolley line.
- Rehab work will begin on the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark (aka St. Louis Marriott Downtown) totaling $15 million.
- Diane Breckenridge may continue with redevelopment plans of the Kiel Opera House turning it into a downtown venue for Broadway shows.
- The new W-1W runway addition at Lambert expects to be open in June 2006.
- Famous-Barr closes and reopens as Macy's in Spring 2006.
