While not as good as a donut shop like The Donut Stop (Lemay and Telegraph), Dunkin is infinitely better than Krispy Kreme, which I hesitate to even call a donut.

I'd heard rumors the guy who owns the St. Louis region DD franchise is holding it "hostage". He's not required to open stores and DD corporate is afraid to face him or won't pay his price. Is that true?

No clue. Perhaps I can ask my friend if she knows what's up.

^ The DD's in the Boston area are great. They usually look pretty good as well - they fit in well with other buildings/surrounding neighborhood. Let's hope we get something similar if DD comes to StL.

I heard that this place is the convenience store that currently operates on 7th Street in St. Louis Centre. Can anyone confirm?

I think the Gateway Grizzlies need to open up a restaurant downtown

Well, that was specifically the place I was referring to in my earlier post in which I noted that most DT C-Stores are horrendous.

That looks delicious, except I don't see any bacon... People that think this is gross need to grow a pair!

Sorry! When I read "Locust Bakery" I didn't associate it with that dumpy (but convenient :) ) convenience store!

no sweat, and yeah it's a pretty crappy store, though i'm glad it's relocating rather than closing, and i'm hopeful that having a new, bigger place will bring improvements.

Hopefully the proprietor(s) of this convenience store will use the relocation as an opportunity to upgrade.

I assume- and I hope- this is a sign that Pyramid will soon move forward with redevelopment of St. Louis Centre. Work at The Laurel (former Stix Baer & Fuller/Dillard's) seems to be moving forward slowly but surely, so it would sure be nice to finally see some tangible progress with what's arguably downtown's worst eyesore.

Apparently you prefer "cake" donuts over the real thing. Krispy Kremes are the real thing and are infinitely better than any cake donut.

The Donut Stop makes cake donuts. They also make numerous other varieties. So apparently, you are wrong.
