O'Fallon applies for official historic status

The O'Fallon neighborhood in St. Louis is set to throw in its bid for listing on the National Register of Historic Places in an effort to save many of the area's historic houses from neglect and disrepair.

The neighborhood is bordered by Interstate 70 and West Florissant, Warne, Kossuth and Natural Bridge avenues, and Newstead Avenue.

I guess historic status will grant the neighborhood tax dollars? That could definately help with rehabbing efforts.

Any word on when we might find out if historic status was granted? Does this process take a long time or should we hear something soon? Its been about nine months and still no word.
