Anyone know what is going on here? Over the last month or so the old derelict building has been bulldozed and it looks like the site has been cleaned up. It appears that this land is owned by SLU.

This site would make a good location for warehouse space with the railroad lines directly behind. It would also make a great spot for big box retail.

They cleared a portion of it out a couple years ago and have not done anything since. My guess is that SLU is holding the land for some future project, or parking. I would prefer to see some form of industrial development in there that produces taxes.

I don't know about the northwest corner, but I do know that SLUCare is opening a clinic focused on the Hispanic community (called Casa de Salud) across the street at the southwest corner (3200 Chouteau). I haven't been able to find any general press release, but it was mentioned in Biondi's monthly report to the SLU community that the clinic will be opening sometime in November.

In the old truck repair reception building (Hessler Truck Repair or something like that)? I saw lights on the other day and was wondering what was up. The NW corner that has been bulldozed is SLU landbanking pure and simple (Assessor's database confirms). They have been clear cutting this area for years and building stupid little fences around stupid little vacant lots.

SLU recently put up a chain-link fence and paved a small, maybe < 20 car, parking lot and put up a sign marking the space for its athletic program.
