A 2 lane cycle tracks will be added on the west side and drive lanes reduced. There will be bump outs throughout

Started today.   The contractor brought the armada. Never seen so many trucks and crews for a single 1 mile job.  They milled and repaved 2 lanes just today.  I think they want to finish by Opening day, although painting will have to wait for a few weeks after because this has to sit for 30 days
Side note - That building with the new Domino’s looks so much better. All things considered for a car oriented one story non-historic building, that’s not bad. Should have zero land use downtown like in that block (most of it is parking lot) but will take the slight improvement. Hopefully that garage across the street is somewhere on the city’s priority list, looks horrible

^Parking garage across the street is going to be refurbished by Alterra to serve the redeveloped Jefferson Arms. They will also maintain sidewalk-level retail bays in the garage.

I wouldn't hold my breath.  Alterra is having a hard enough time finishing the Jefferson Arms.

Honestly is that worth it? Probably a case where demo makes more sense, it is in rough shape and very ugly

Not out there today and i suspect the city asked them to stop because it was a mess yesterday. I’m surprised there was no press release on Friday to announce the start. City probably asked them to submit a closure and alternative route plan before restarting

I wish the city crews would slow down a bit. I would rather have another week of construction chaos on these projects than deal with their rush job.

The just redid Vandeventer between Shaw and Kingshighway and the stretch of road is an embarrassment

Add it to the list of disappointments when we yet again had a shot to do something substantive.

Tucker BLVD would be so beautiful if they tried adding native wildflowers inside the medians also plant new trees specially ones that add fall color such as redpointe maples maybe the newer version of birch trees flowering dogwoods ginkgo’s for example I’d also vouch for most of downtown streets with planting new trees getting rid of the callery pear and Bradford trees I know the cost of upkeep is a issue but think it be well worth it…..

No excuse for not refreshing that median

We have to get serious about the little details of beautification downtown

We don’t have the luxury to skip these details given the state of our downtown

Yeah, this looks like a value engineered POS project.

This project was always just a cycle track. The inclusion of concrete to protect the cycle track is actually an improvement of the original plan.

That’s true. Original plan was also just a temporary thing (this was back in 2017)

You should do a gofund me for some mid-sized trees, so they have a better shot at making it... and maybe you could get Mobot to donate some?

Post2:32 PM - 15 days ago#73

^I just keep going back to the Tower Grove Cortex Connector... everything we do should be to that scale and finish... its so good, like why are we wasting our time with 50% - this is something we should be best in class at...

Any possibility that ugly garage at Tucker and Locust come down or is it waiting for a few lightning strikes to hit and it will all but fall  down?

I can tell you now that the bike lane in front of Jeff Arms will be a problem & cars will go in it. Bike lane should shift to the parking lane at St. Charles & parking eliminated on this block & another barrier between new bike/drive lane built

Could also put a barrier so that bikes can go by but not cars. Still not ideal for building operations but it’s cheaper
