Mark Wegmann wrote:Hey I'm the guy that picked 6PM to close.. yep it's dumb but until we get additional restaurants in the immidiate area we felt foot traffic would be at a minimum! THE FOOD IS GREAT so i suggest stopping in ASAP. Santo-Bento is offering a special to all University students ( don't care from which school.. you all need the $$$!) buy a meal and get a fountain drink for free! prices are starting at 6.00 and you get plenty of food.

Since I'm also an investor in the area I'll let you know a few deals in the works.. Roof top grill @ 3131 Olive ( Done deal ) should open this summer

and is located across from Santo Bento. Also a BBQ place and a pizza place are both in discussions. We expect the Coffee house to be getting their stuff going also in late spring as they are waiting for roasting equipment! .. We also have a deal signed for a Vegas restaurant/club operator who is finalizing plans for 3037 olive and if you don't like in a box you know Mississippi Nights is looking hard in our area...so whit that said,Santo Bento will be open after 6 very soon grasshopper....

are you talking about lush?

OT: lets here more about this rooftop grill please.

LUSH is the name of the 3037 club / restaurant .. you're correct.

the roof top will feature a open grill on the roof and look to serve a fast eddies style menu which is limited in scope, good in quailty and CHEAP.. I would expect them to go after the arena traffic,University students and the outside dining lunch and dinner crowds.. all I know at this point..

I actually picked up some food from Santo Bento a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed the quality of the food. The service was quick but not very friendly (which doesn't really bother me). I like the idea of a grab n'go stir fry place. You see them all over a lot of major cities, but there seems to be a void here for whatever reason.

Santo Bento seems like it would be a great place to see pop up all over the city-- maybe one downtown, in the CWE, U. City, etc.

I must say reluctantly that I am extremely disappointed with Santo Bento. The quality of the food is very good, but the people working there are cold and DO NOT LISTEN to what you order. I have been there a total of three times now and NOT ONCE when I've eaten there have they gotten my order correct. The only time I got what I ordered was when I picked it up about a month ago. The first time I cut them some slack because they were new. The next time they gave me rice instead of noodles and while I was pissed, I was in too big of a hurry to b**** about it. I returned last week and ordered Santo Bento noodles with shrimp (not a tough order) and what did they give me? Noodles and vegetables, no shrimp.

I love the concept of Santo Bento, and like I said, the food is good. But the employees are incompetent, rude and disinterested in their customers. One guy in particular just sits on the computer in the back and acts like you're bugging him when you want to place an order. When I asked him what the soup of the day was, he said, "Um, I'm not sure." He didn't even bother to check it out for me either. Very disappointing, and I wouldn't be surprised if this poor service is what ultimately leads to the restaurant's demise. Aside from that, I should note that I was the only person in the restaurant each time I've been there. A restaurant that new should do everything possible to ensure a satisfying experience for their patrons. Santo Bento falls WAY short. I will not be back.

Wow, someone should alert the owner to this thread. Looks like some issues they could get addressed...

I agree that it was not good, we were really excited about this place and were expecting something similar to a pei wei or at least somewhere that you pick out your ingredients...

what we found was that the quality of the meat was poor, the nodles are just run of the mill lo mein noodles, the "hot chili" sauce that they can add for 25 cents is just siracha...

the employees are completely indifferent...all in all, it was not a good experience.

I won't be going back

sorry you had a bad experience as most people who have complained in the past noted the staff. We have made a few changes but it seems more need to be made or at least an attitude adjustment.

I can tell you the seafood is FRESH daily and the meats are FRESH and prepaired via a slow cook method that is more costly but makes for a more tender and tasty product. We do not cut corners in any way and this is why we are growing at a 20% Month over month clip. ( currently 90% of our busieness is at lunch)

I can say you are correct in that the " hot Chili " sauce is bought but the peanut sauce along with every other sauce or ingredient is made or cut fresh at the restaurant. We have been open a short time at this point and would appriciate the opportunity to make things right if you don't get what you want .. we just need to know.

If anyone has an issue, feel free to contact me regarding the product or personal as it's our goal to offer a quality product, as ordered, for a fair price well into the future..

Thanks.
