^Assuming Parson and the legislature actually pony up. He's already issued a statement saying the money still isn't there to comply.
With focus on St. Louis, Missouri senators call on mayor, others to outline needs

I'm sure this will go absolutely nowhere.

Guarantee that any "requests" from the City of St. Louis are immediately shredded by Hawley's office. Blunt is probably more polite in his dismissal, and he certainly contributed to the NGA effort, but he is not long for this world.

This is state senators, so it’s even worse.
Yeah I’d even give garbage dump Hawley more credit than the folks behind this/State legislators.

^I'd put it in the national media thread. It's . . . unflattering. To say the least.
Due to much higher than usual attrition, Republicans have lost their supermajority in the Missouri House of Representatives for the first time since 2015.
The main impact of this looks to be on congressional redistricting, where a "least change" map seems more likely than not due to the GOP's need for Democratic votes to enact a map. Apparently the loss of the supermajority is mostly Parson's fault, as he has neglected to class special elections to fill vacant GOP seats caused by deaths and resignations.

Idk if this is the right thread for this but it’s the same people as Greater STL Inc. basically local billionaire/millionaire klans are starting a PAC to get Missouri to stop being a damn national embarrassment
Prominent St. Louisans seeking to shift the direction of governance in Missouri are backing a new political action committee based out of Jefferson City, records show.
Created in January, RightPath PAC is registered to Sarah Vatterott of the Gamble & Schlemeier lobbying firm. The PAC has collected large donations, including from:
Enterprise Holdings Executive Chairman Andy Taylor ($100,000 on Monday)
Commerce Bancshares Executive Chairman David Kemper ($50,000 on Monday)
John McDonnell and Alicia McDonnell, children of James McDonnell, founder of McDonnell Aircraft Corp. ($200,000 each on Monday)
None immediately responded to requests for more information.
Other donations to RightPath came from George Bauer ($200,000); Blackford Brauer of Hunter Engineering Co. ($200,000 each from Brauer and the company); Joyce Buchheit ($200,000); Andrew Bursky of Atlas Holdings ($200,000); and Couch Distributing Co. CEO George Couch.
Jorgen Schlemeier, principal of Gamble & Schlemeier, said that the donors, who have been meeting over the past year, are disappointed by the direction of governance in Jefferson City and are particularly concerned about issues related to St. Louis, believing they impact the entire state.
Schleimeier said the PAC and its donors want state government to do a better job partnering with private industry to improve health, education and economic development in Missouri. However, they're waiting until candidate filing closes this year for state House and Senate races before detailing specific policy positions.
The emergence of the new PAC comes amid gripes that St. Louis, which drives Missouri's gross domestic product, isn't being served by Republican leadership in state capital Jefferson City. The state, meanwhile, sees relatively slow growth. And St. Louis is barely growing and recently dropped to the 21st largest U.S. metro.
It also follows efforts by Taylor and others to remake of St. Louis' economic development efforts, via the creation last year of Greater St. Louis Inc.

It's about time. I consider this to be great news.
Something needs to be done about the regressive politics of Jefferson City. The Republicans running this state are so hypocritical with their disdain of federal laws and control because they sure like to centralize and consolidate power over the counties of Missouri whenever they can.
We need a governor who understands the internet, an attorney general that can keep his nose out of school mask mandates, and senators that don't help incite insurrections at the nation's capitol.

The current state of the GOP is the natural offspring of the policies these same millionaires and billionaires have supported since Reagan. Reap what you sow.

Bring on the sea change. Bring on a GOP more focused on small government and pro-small businesses, and kill the MAGA isolationist nationalistic bullshart. Get the MO money back into STL where it came from in the first damn place!!!!!

Two newest maps - we should be getting close to finalizing these. Is it right they have the weekend to vote on these (or new ones)?
I guess I could have waited a few hours - has to go to the house.
