Yea because STL is the only city to get fare gates on its Metro.....
We're the only ones with a payments/ticketing system that can't get you through the fare gates.
Yea because they're still building the new system. The new system will include tap payment with your credit card. Just chill and stop complaining.Ebsy wrote: ↑Oct 21, 2024We're the only ones with a payments/ticketing system that can't get you through the fare gates.

I mean it’s totally fair to complain about the fact that we’ll have gates that you can’t get through without a guard letting you in for over a year. That’s just poor planning, which is not surprising from Metro.Auggie wrote:Yea because they're still building the new system. The new system will include tap payment with your credit card. There wasn't anybody at the Central West End station to let me through this morning. I just walked into the station.

As someone who lives part time in LA, I would love to have the problems you guys mention. I would take ugly fare gates any day over stations being taken over by people who have no intention of going anywhere on the train and openly breaking multiple laws, making the system incredibly unpleasant and unsafe for women. And unlike STL, in LA driving is not a good or viable alternative for trips in the afternoon during the gridlock.
You think turnstiles are ugly? Wait till you see how ugly it looks with gangs tagging up the entire station, shattered glass, women being groped, and more. LA never used to have these problems so they never added gates until now. Glad STL decided to do it before it got to that point.

We've solved the problem of women being groped by charging $2.50.stl07 wrote: ↑Nov 20, 2024As someone who lives part time in LA, I would love to have the problems you guys mention. Someone was hit and killed by a Metrolink train just east of the Cortex station. It’s behind a paywall so I can’t see if there are any details but my mind immediately went to those stupid new fences which are just pushing people onto the tracks

ST. LOUIS – One person is dead after being struck by a MetroLink train in the Central West End.
District 5 officers responded to the incident, which occurred around 6:35 p.m.—just west of South Vandeventer Avenue and Interstate 64, behind the Ikea store.
Metro is shuttling passengers between the Central West End and Grand stations. Bus shuttles are transporting passengers between the stations.
First responders with the St. Louis Fire Department and St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department are at the scene.
This is a developing story. FOX 2 News will have more information on-air and online as it becomes available.
