We will do anything except seek ways to raise more revenue and actually improve security. Remember a few years ago when they chose to give up millions per year in advertising revenue because unamed municipalities bitched?

And I have to believe it's a money thing, but the security is genuinely atrocious. I have a LE and security background, its what I work in for a living, I have never seen a more inept security force than Metro's security, which is contracted with Allied. They are atrocious, as are basically every one of those non-LE private security. There are only a handful of them I'd even think about considering "good" and most of them seem to scared to enforce the rules, laws, policies that riders are required to follow. I can't tell you how many times I have seen them just ignore smoking or blasting music or sleeping on the train. I really wonder how many of these issues could be solved with an actual transit police force or at the very least contracting with an actual private security company like City's Finest. Reality is that offenders know the security is toothless and won't actually do sh*t. It's always so funny when I see the County police run through a train and not take any of their sh*t. Unfortunately theyre spread way too thin.

But their solution was $62M on gates no one asked for and now cutting capacity in half? I defend Metro a lot because they do a decent job for being in the position they are in and they get no real political support and they contend with a county as dysfunctional as STL County, but this type of sh*t is just beyond the pale of anything that should ever be considered. Again, will just be added to my list of reasons to leave STL.

Sucks for me because Metro is actually faster and cheaper for me than parking and contending with traffic. Oftentimes my drive to the Metro station will take longer than my ride. So it'll have to be really bad to make me stop using it, but they are as hell seem like they wanna try.
