Egads! That's one of the most hideous looking things I've ever seen.

Don't those stores already have homes just a mile or two down Manchester in Town and Country or City of either Manchester or Ballwin?

And they relocated from Manchester and Barrett Station to the current location, which basically killed the shopping center they were originally in. This will be the third Wal-Mart in a stretch of about two miles on Manchester.
I freaking hate Wal-Mart.

Oh my gosh, how many Wal-Marts do the people of Town and Country, Des Peres and Manchester need? Seriously?!

1 wal-mart that's been in 2 (soon to be 3) locations in the last decade. Sad really.
ps, people in T&C NEED wal-mart

There's also a large one probably equidistant on Manchester west near Clarkson (although I understand the aversion to driving on Manchester).
I'll lay odds the "new" Best Buy cannibalizes and kills the other one on Manchester within the year. And the massive zero-sum (actually negative, given the subsidies) game in Des Peres/T&C/Ballwin/Manchester/Ellisville will continue, with yet another set of useless big-box spaces put on the market for years at a time. This is another root of the current economic problem, yet non one in St. Louis will ever say that out loud -- they'll just continue to overbuild and oversubsidize retail.

I received word that the Costco aims for a mid November opening, weather permitting of course. The construction has already started.
Finally, I don't have to drive out to South County or St. Peters for my Costco shopping. Once its open I will cancel my Sams membership.

Nordstrom Rack will soon open their 2nd St. Louis area location in the Manchester Highlands shopping center.
