A significant business expansion worth at least 100 new jobs is expected to be formally announced in Jefferson County Thursday.

The project, which has been kept under wraps by state and local officials for months, is expected to bring a fiber cement siding manufacturer to an area that once housed the Festus Memorial Airport, which was shuttered earlier this year in anticipation of the new facility, the Post-Dispatch has learned.

100 new jobs is major? A start up with like 200 moved to downtown from west coast and it was 11 seconds on local news

It’s James Hardie fiberboard and siding. I didn’t know they were an Irish company…which makes me wonder if this was a national/international search. If so, then this is a really nice win and a recognizable brand.

A recognizable brand? Huh? Outside of the fiberboard and siding world, to whom?

Anyone who knows knows that James Hardie siding is THE siding of choice of Randy Karraker.
