This article caught my eye earlier
http://www.bnd.com/2010/11/18/1480940/e ... attle.html

A vacant building at this intersection (Collinsville at St. Louis Ave)

caught fire. The fire chief said he thought it used to be a movie theater. The Majestic Theater is just off of that corner, and there are two other buildings on the corner. ALthough the article says the burned building dates to 1906, while the Majestic opened in 1928.

It's been closed apparently since 1960.

Is the building that burned the Majestic? It seems likely to me.

Thanks.

I don't know for sure, but a commenter on the site you cited had this to say
The building that burned was across the street from the Majestic, on the southwest corner of Collinsville & St. Louis Ave. The building on the northeast corner was loss by fire, also. It was the former Stanley Store. Now that i'm thinking about it, the furniture store that stood on the north west corner was also consumed by fire.
If that's correct, the remains of the Majestic have been spared. But really, it's only a matter of time before that building is destroyed somehow. The trees growing out of the facade get bigger every year. Recent interior photos show that the stage has collapsed and there's sunlight pouring in from the roof. Aerial shots don't show much but a hole is a hole.

Ugh that sucks. That's the most intact part of downtown. It would be a terrible loss to lose any of those buildings. Thankfully the Majestic is ok, if it is, but I really hope this isn't one of the more architectually significant buildings downtown.
