The way you have un-focused the background and foreground, it makes is seems as though I am looking at a scale model of the city.
Yes, I had to convince myself that I wasn't looking at Micro Machines.
Hey, I want a make-believe, toy St. Louis, too. Or is this the real thing? Cool pics. The view looking north over Grand is fantastic. It shows how great Grand is and a shot I have never seen before. Some lucky person will have these views if they buy a Southside Tower condo.

MattonArsenal-- I knew it! When I first saw your post about elevated photos, I thought, "I bet he's going to do the tilt-shift faux-model thing."
Nice work!

Also the new helicopter tours that will be starting soon should provide some greaat photo opportunities.
The tilt-shift photography is fun but you really have to pick the right photos to get the greatest effect.

Awesome photos! The theme to Mister Rogers is totally stuck in my brain from looking at those!
All these photos are amazing. I wish I came by sooner. Great Ballpark and Compton Watertower pix, and I love the "scaled model" style pix.
Here are some that I DID NOT take...

I wish the yellow brick balcony with statue and incredible view were mine. I would never leave.
I've seen some of these before, but they're well worth a second post. Love the views. Thanks, STLgasm.
Hi,
Been lurking for a while absorbing the wealth of information that's available on this site. Thought I'd sign up to share these I took from the Top of the Riverfront restaurant last August.

And these, taken from the Rennaisance Grand:

I'm nowhere near the photographer most of you on this site are, but hopefully you'll enjoy these.
Thanks so much to everyone for what you do on Urban STL - what a great resource for those who care about the city.

Thanks for the pics, RBB. But what's that big white doughnut-thing with arches around the top?

Thanks.
Honestly, I'll likely mostly lurk, as I'm not sure there's anything of value I'll be able to add most of the time, but I'll stick my head into a discussion every now and then.
Glad to be on board.

I don't add anything of value and I just keep posting away. Don't hesitate. We'll let you know if you're being stupid.
FYI -- KMOV announced tonight at 10 p.m. that the Water Tower on S. Grand and Russell will be open on the first Saturday of each month until November -- I'm pretty sure it's November. I didn't see this posted anywhere else, so...

Here is the link to the story in the Post Dispatch.
Compton Heights Water Tower Open first Saturday of Each Month
I would've posted this earlier but I was outside enjoying the lovely weather... anyway, the Compton Water Tower is open this weekend -- well, now Sunday, from 12 noon - 4 p.m. This is in conjunction with the Grand South Grand House Tour. If you don't have anything going on and the weather cooperates, here's a photo op for you. I tried to go today but I couldn't do the spiral stairs. Yeah, I know I'm sad!
