I play 'beer league' at Webster and it is a perfectly fine rink. However, I do not believe it is anywhere close to a D1 caliber rink, even for a lower-tier D1 team. (Not that SLU would be lower-tier). For a university's club team, yes, it is fine. I think the Blues rink at Centene is a fine D1 rink for now. If the program blows up, maybe an on-campus rink at LU could be feasible.
My guess is if (when) it becomes popular they'll play at the Family Arena.

I don't know if this is credible, but this could explain why D1 hockey isn't coming back to Midtown.

Which part? There’s a lot going on in that thread. Hockey would be very expensive, and while Chaifetz can host ice events, it would also require a huge investment for the chilling infrastructure to be installed for long term use. Not to mention the set up and tear down to change it over to basketball for SLU would get very tricky (plus the concert schedule).

Long story short, it’s just $$$. If some benefactor wants to give a huge donation for a hockey program I’m sure SLU Athletics would jump at having a program. Short of that, they have existing programs to focus on.

WashU football and athletics probably would be a powerhouse today if not for the 1929 crash

In the way too early bracketology for next year.

SLU a 9 seed
Illini a 4 seed
SIUE a 16 seed play in game.
Mo state a 12 seed and only MVC team.

No mizzou.

Pretty bold to pick SIU-e to win the OVC Tournament after they went 5-13 and finished 8th this past season.

Pretty bold to pick SLU as an 8-seed when their best player is transferring away.

They're at least usually decent and can put up a winning record.

Murray, Belmont and Austin Peay all leaving. Only 8 teams are eligible with Lindenwood and USI having to sit out a few years. So basically anyone has a shot.

Ah, I guess I haven't been paying attention to the lower conference realignment stuff.

Missouri State anounced today they are moving to Conference USA. This now puts them in the highest tier of Divsion I college football..
Missouri State heads to FBS, joining Conference USA in 2025
Missouri State will move up to the highest tier of Division I college football and join Conference USA in 2025, the league announced Friday.
Missouri State will become the 12th full member of CUSA and the third school -- along with Kennesaw State this season and Delaware in 2025 -- to move up from the FCS to the FBS and join the league over the next two seasons.
A longtime member of the Missouri Valley Conference, Missouri State has been competing in FCS/I-AA since 1981. The Bears have reached the NCAA playoffs four times, most recently in 2020 and 2021 under then-coach Bobby Petrino.
"The institution boasts a great tradition in athletics and academics that will strengthen and further position our membership for long term success in the national landscape," Conference USA commissioner Judy MacLeod said.
Conference USA lost six members to the American Athletic Conference and have rebuilt by adding former independents such as Liberty and New Mexico State and former FCS schools Sam Houston State and Jacksonville State last year.
The rest of Conference USA includes Louisiana Tech, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State, UTEP and Florida International.
