^I'll provide a counterpoint. I've enjoyed Kopperman's as a patron for the last 15 years, and thought of it as a great addition to a great neighborhood. It was one of my favorite breakfast spots in the City, and I'm sad to see it go. I see it as a similar loss as Majestic Diner - which was also a CWE breakfast favorite. I hope someone comes along to keep it (or something similar) going.

When I was in high school a buddy and I would take late night ventures into the city on the weekends and we'd usually end up at Kopperman's because it was a place in the CWE that was open late at night that we could get into as 17-year-olds. I always enjoyed it, but when I took a group of my friends there one night they couldn't get over the basket of rotten tomatoes that was just sitting in the deli window. Not the best impression. But, I've got some good memories of the place and am sad to see it go.

I will miss Koppermans. I think they had some sort of Jewish corned beef flown in from new york carnegie deli everyday. I enjoyed going there occasionally for breakfast and a drink before a matinee at the Chase. The early one like 11:20 or something. Garbage culture taking over.

Yeah I know. Tough business. You know how to have a million dollars in the restaurant business? Start with two million. I just had to throw a dig in there mostly because I'm annoyed by Independence Day : Resurgence and The Purge : Election Day.

While it was not what it once was - I am still pretty bummed about Kopperman's closing - The place started slipping years ago but loved it for that early 70's bohemian vibe. When the new owners took over I was optimistic, but then the over sized posters went with no real improvement to the space, the service (which seemed to be the biggest problem) did not improve, I felt they really did not know what to do with it.

There is still Protzel's in Clayton which is great, but felt like Kopperman's was a link back to the old 70's 80's West End that i was too young to really experience but always heard stories about

"There ought to be a slaw"

It definitely had a good vibe and a beat writer 40s 50s Paris feel to it and I never had bad food or drinks.
