Sorry if there's a thread about this on here, but I couldn't find it.

Looking through Google Street View, I noticed a construction sign up on this vital corner across from Benton Park and then found this decade old article.:

Does anyone know what's going on at this site or if there are any future plans? This is a perfect site for a great mixed use building right across from the park, on the proposed south side streetcar alignment.

The city's LRA owns the land. I would love to see it developed!

I agree but i do believe that wont stay vacant much longer and hopefully something that fits into the neighborhood aesthetics gets built

^ I hope whatever is built there adds to build a vibrant streetscape. A lot of what is built to fit in with the aesthetics of neighborhoods is really boring and uninspiring. For a spot like this, I'd rather see something a bit more bold, perhaps such as the Washington U Loop Lofts, perhaps with some glass similar to that project.

I think it's high time to build a little density on main thoroughfares such as Jefferson. Too often these sites are filled with single family homes with siding on the side!
