National Information Solutions Cooperative (NISC) is spending about $18 million to build a 135,000-square-foot headquarters building in Lake St. Louis.

The company, which employs about 270 people in St. Charles County, develops and supports software and hardware solutions for its member/owners -- primarily utility and telecommunications cooperatives across the country. Although no new jobs are on the horizon, the new building will give the company the room to hire about 150 more people.

Its annual revenue ranges from $75 million to $100 million.

The headquarters will be built on 35 acres at Highway 40 and Lake St. Louis Boulevard that can accommodate up to 300,000 square feet of additional office space as NISC grows.

In 2002, Computerworld rated the company the 10th best place for IT workers nationwide.

I noticed this building driving on 40 near Lake St. Louis. Its kinda far from the highway. I am not really a fan of low-rise buildings like this (I like buildings w/ 6 stories or more, the better) Yeah, the city may have a restriction on building height (O'Fallon does), but this one is too small in height just like Citi and Mastercard Int'l. A waste of land IMO, considering St. Charles County is using up a lot of land on developments such as this. I wish it were taller, it would be nice to have a skyline of sorts in St. Charles.
