The other day I had to exit downtown trying to get onto westbound 70 towards the airport. I got stuck in ballpark traffic after a game, and sat for 25 minutes trying to board the first westbound 70 ramp somewhere north of the Edward Jones dome.

Traffic was backed up solid all along the Dome trying to get through the signal leading to the interstate on ramp.

Don't tell me that one ramp there near the MLK Bridge will be the ONLY west bound on ramp onto I-70 out of downtown after all the C+A+R stuff is done. Don't tell me.

Next time just cross the river, turn around in Illinois and come back across on the Stan. That probably would have saved you 10 - 15 minutes.

Trying to get to 44 or 40 is no better. It used to take me maybe 5 or 10 minutes to get out of downtown, these days, it can easily take over 20-40 just to get to Layfayette.

Downtown traffic has gotten significantly worse since the construction started. Both 4th street and Broadway are gridlocked if there is a game and during non-game days it's still slow going.

Sitting in traffic is one thing, but sitting in traffic because of poor planning and knowing we have the capacity to handle the amount of downtown traffic is very frustrating.

As a pedestrian, I've found it even more perilous to cross these streets during rush hour, I'm not sure how closing Memorial and building a lid over the highway creates a safe environment for visitors to the Arch if they get plowed down on 4th or Broadway.

Whose bright idea was it to route all 44 and 40 traffic down Broadway past a freaking stadium? Drive down to Jefferson? Wouldn't do it, it backs up from 44 to Chouteau. Tucker is an option, but everyone knows what happens at Tucker and Lafayette.

Thus far, I'm unimpressed with the new traffic patterns that have developed because of the CAR project...maybe things will get better when they add the entrance ramp for 44 on Memorial.

Two westbound ramps: 1) the ramp from N Broadway just north of Carr St and 2) the ramp from the MLK Bridge which will soon be accessible from Memorial Dr.

Your other alternative is to head south to get on I-44 from the ramp near the Soulard Market just south of Park Ave.

You can't go from EB I64 to WB I70.

What's weird is that there seems to be no access to I-70 west from Tucker.... is that right? Seems kind of dumb to have a major new exit from eastbound 70 at Tucker but not allow a return... am I missing something?

This might a silly question but you will have to spare me, but wouldn't tearing down the raised section of I-70, replacing with a short stretch of blvd starting with an at grade intersection with Wash Ave solve the issue and or helped downtown access immensely?

I won't go into the multiple of other benefits because I'm simply dumbfounded by the cost effective no brainer infrastructure project that drive a whole new round of investment and development, just as rebuilding 22nd interchanging and adding a street grid back to West Downtown.

But that might slow the people who want to get from Eastbound 44 to Westbound 70. Both of them.
