I live in the 7600 blk of Virginia,I just wanted to say there was a fire saturday here in this blk and apparently it was an intentionly set fire. The man that lived there died about 4 months ago,His sister was taking care of his stuff she got most of stuff cleaned up and things removed and and someone decided to break in and try to steal things and i guess didnt find what they wanted and caught a mattress on fire and burned the house down,,no one was there,,thank God,,,But It just pees me off that someone with nothing better to do than burn someones elses house down for the hell of it.Not to mention add to the sister who has to take care of it and add that to her stress.Comes out to find out the house had no Insurance,,,,sad very sad.I hope they find the rat who did this and shoot him on site.

That's an awful story... I feel for the sister, but shame on her for not having insurance on the house.

tonystl, how do u know all this dude? :D tell you what though, if we had more informed and concerned neighbors like you, our city would be better for it. i've been thru enough hoods to know that you can just feel an engaged and close community when you're in one and it tends to provide it's own neighborhood security. don't know if that makes any sense.

The gas explosion was reported on KMOX and Fox2 news. At least it didn't appear to do much harm to the building which is especially appreciated because it looks like another bar/restaurant is moving into the neighborhood. The Riverside Café down the block is doing such a bang up business they have already expanded into the vacant space next door.

I don't mean to change the subject, but...

The expansion is configured like a bar, verses the restaurant side. They have recently started hosting live music on the weekends.
