I really like it - it's totally simple, but it works well. I would think the views out of those windows are probably pretty good.

Just don't look at the Kiener Garages.

They were cut down for some unknown reason several weeks ago. Nothing like cutting down trees that provided good shade for some annuals. The only reason I can think of is that they were getting too big for the median, but I don't think that would be a very good reason.

Agreed there...I park in Kiener East for work, not only does it look horrible but it smells like a toilet. Such a shame to have those garage only (with the exception to the food joints) buildings right next to prime Class A office space in the Met and Saint Louis Place. I would much rather walk farther for work and have a nice building to look at than those pieces of dung. Not to mention...to continue your point...the staggering beauty they provide along Kiener Plaza....

One step forward two steps back. Great job. One of the few sections of Market that worked on some level (i.e. the trees in the median) are taken out?

It really doesn't make any sense. Can't the Parks Dept. chip in a few trees? I thought that when Gateway Greening/Urban Roots tackled the median that new trees would be added.

I'm going to make an assumption here...I think they were taken out so that the new banquet space had unhindered views of the cityscape.

If you notice they are all removed only right in front of the new space.

I work downtown and have noticed a few city workers in John Deere Gators doing various landscaping work while I was on lunch. I watched them cut down a potted tree on the corner of Broadway and Pine on Tuesday afternoon...so I am not sure if tree removal is isolated to the Hilton or part of a larger plan.

St. Louis' desire to tear down buildings and cut down trees will be the reason I'll eventually come to hate the city I love.

PLEASE STOP getting rid of the two things that make the physical environment beautiful!!!!

These trees were ugly, they had been so over pruned and hacked up they made Charlie Browns Christmas tree look like a sequoia. Hopefully the city will either replace them with better adapted specimens or keep the landscaping tree free.

Paric Completes $4.8 Million Ballpark Hilton Addition

Paric Corporation has a completed renovation and expansion project at the former Ballpark Hilton, located in the former World's Fair Spanish Pavilion. The project added a 16,000-square-foot, two-story meeting room. Paric completed the $4.8 million project ahead of schedule and under budget while overcoming a long list of construction challenges.
