Gyo Obata, architectural legend, has passed away at 99 years. He left a bigger physical mark on St. Louis than probably anyone.

Bigger than Harland Bartholomew? Not that he left a positive mark, but not sure anyone had as much impact on the built environment as he did.

Seriously, though. What a legacy to leave behind. St. Louis is certainly better off thanks to him.

I've long had something of a hero crush on Obata. His buildings are absolutely stunning. He will be sorely missed, but he absolutely made this place richer and his legacy will live on. RIP Mr. Obata.

^That might be the best picture of the Priory's exterior I've seen. Lovely article. Thank you.
