Forest Park DeBaliviere Station had its federal grant approved. Will be getting accessibility, lighting, and canopy improvements. Anyone know what that may look like?

If this include "safety measures" i.e. steps toward checking tickets to enter the station and closing the west stair to the station, I'll be pissed.

In 2019 they opened a contract with WSP to redesign Forest Park, 8th & Pine, Convention Center, and Lacledes Landing. Forest Park is now the only one currently funded. Downtown stops are at 30% design.

I’ve seen one or two renderings over a year ago but nothing since.

I’d predict the CWE improvements are fairly similar. Especially the white canopy.

I will be very satisfied I’d FP-DeBaliviere gets the CWE treatment. Would be a huge improvement.

I'd like a canopy that covers the whole thing. meaning the tracks too.

You mean like lidding it?

No. Like a canopy that goes from either side of the trench.

This was posted a ways back on the Expo thread.  Not sure how up to date it is though:

BJC drove a lot of the design at the new CWE station to tie it into their campus look, so I'm not sure how similar it'll end up being though.  A new (and longer) shelter, better lighting and a second entrance like the one depicted here are pretty good looking though.

That looks like a really expensive way to get rid of the west entrance.

I still see stairs and an elevator on the west side.  I think someone said in the Expo thread that the sunken nature of the station and its single entrance were complaints so they wanted to add an additional entrance/exit.  I don't think they'll remove the existing one.

The one on the west side of DeBaliviere isn't in that image.

Whoops, I didn't even know that entranced existed.  I've only ever used the east one on the rare occasions I've actually exited there and not transferred.

Sounds like 2024-2026 for construction. They are not yet in full design.

As DB has relentlessly pointed out here…those construction timelines suck.

Metro's always on a mission to make Metrolink as inconvenient as possible in the name safety. If there's no riders, there can't be any crime!

It's been a while, but I thought they had previously put a bunch of bike-rack style barriers all around the upstairs portion at that station to make you walk in a certain way to enter/exit, kind of a preview of the secure platform deal.

what's up with increased loitering near and around the metrolink station and its surrounding building?
