Big Box is coming to Farmington, Missouri. Developed by Koman Properties of St. Louis, Farmington Crossing is a $60-million, 350,000 square retail center under development. When completed, Farmington Crossing will be a $225-million mixed-use development in SE Missouri.

Check out the PDF.

Farmington, which is some 65 miles southwest downtown St. Louis, is a part of the St. Louis-St. Charles-Farmington CMSA (Combined Metropolitan Statistical Area).

I've been taking bets on when someone would develop that spot as strip retail.

I'm not all that proud to say that I had the misfortune of spending most of my youth in that town. :(

Still, I'm glad to see Farmington Crossing going forward, if only because my mother will be able to shop somewhere besides Farmington's pathetic Wal-Mart Supercenter. I'm not quite sure why anyone would want to live there, but to each his own. Anyway, the town sure is growing. 8)

There's another sizeable strip center rising to the southeast of this development, on the SE corner of the U.S. 67/Maple Street interchange, but I haven't heard anything about the tenants that will occupy it.

^ Are you referring to Country Days by chance? It's Farmington's biggest (actually, its only) annual celebration, but it's been years since I've been to it.

Maybe. It's the carnival/fair set up on the main drag though downtown in early Summer. Lots of tatooed ride operators, funnel cakes and home-made bead necklaces

^ Oh yeah, that's it! I can't decide who looks more scary- the ride operators or some of the locals! :P
