I love how these projects focus on renovating existing structures along with infill. I'm glad the northside is beginning to see some movement in terms of single-family developments. Hopefully, we'll see it stop bleeding residents in the next decade. Crime is a massive hindrance at the moment; what I think we'll see is that the "safer neighborhoods" will lead the way in terms of reinvestment. Good stuff!

Old Central VPA being turned into International Film School

Looks exciting, this will attract more investment to the neighborhood.

Fairgrounds Park should be one of the best parks in the city and a magnet for development, it really deserves more investment and programming though. Is there a foundation that exists similar to Forest Park Forever or Friends of Tower Grove Park?

Would love to see the following improvements:
  • The park currently has TEN baseball diamonds. Are these used? Cutting this number down to 2-3 would make a lot of room.
  • More semi-forested areas. Denser tree growth around the periphery of the park makes the park feel bigger and more tranquil.
  • Basketball Court improvements
  • The tennis complex seems oversized for the neighborhood and the state of tennis in STL in general. Ace academy moved to Forest Park and looking through street view I only saw one single game being played in the 12 historical snapshots available. Some of these courts should be converted to Pickleball which is surging in popularity and is much more accessible than Tennis.
  • An area dedicated to community events such as neighborhood picnics and seasonal north-side farmers market. Should be oriented around the bear pits, which would make a great backdrop for a bandstand.
  • The skating rink is awesome, would like to see a mini skate park added nearby

I'd add to your list:
- a few picnic pavilions/shelters
- eliminate the road parallel to Kossuth Ave
- have at least one footpath form a loop around the park like Tower Grove and Carondelet parks have
