This is interesting, specifically the quote from someone claiming to be involved in a rehab of this building...
I did a Lexis-Nexis search and couldn't find anything in the Post-Dispatch or News-Democrat pertaining to a remodel. It recently got another board-up job (the windows several stories up were boarded up, not just the first floor entrance as seen on the pictures linked above) and some asbestos warning signs went up.

I am amazed to see so much personal history and knowledge of the ESL community being posted on this site. We were just awarded and have just undertaken a $30 million renovation of the Broadview Hotel (former SIUE building). I need help in documenting some of the interior design features and former businesses from the original 1927 design. We plan to develop a restaurant on the first floor with offices and some retail. We intend to provide a Historic Restoration to the entire facade and focus on restoring the stairway to the lower level and second floor. Throughout the main entry area, the elevators, staircase and flooring will all be restored. We also intend to provide 6-8 hotel rooms with the remaining upper floors being offered as loft style apartments. The Ballroom Level will provide banquet facilities with access to rooftop gardens and greenspace. The view looking back to the west is exceptional, a stunning evening skyline. We have outlined a 4-year development plan to be implemented in Phases through completion. Please respond if you are able to provide detail of original interior features and fixtures.
