It’s less impressive when you realize most of the site plan is trees and parking lots. It’s almost like JJK is attempting to build a college campus… but slowly.
I’m not going to criticize any investment whatsoever going to East Stl. Supposedly this will serve 15000 people, meaning this must be quite the project. I’d really love to see more investment on the Illinois side in general, I feel like granite city could really be something with enough investment

^Brining back East St. Louis might just be the single most important thing that could happen in the area. But making sure that happens without erasing the history of ESL and the adjacent communities is important too. I do worry about places like Brooklyn, and Lovejoy is more or less off the map already. Deindustrialization has been brutal on the east side. (And continues to be, with the closing of Alton Steel.) I want to see projects like that happen. I also want to see some guarantee that the people who are there now won't simply be pushed elsewhere with no jobs and no benefit. Not sure how to make both happen.
