I noticed yesterday, that a vacant home on Southwest Ave. (2707 Southwest) was demolished. Also, a brick building next door was taken down. It was a Irish bar back in the 80's. The home was a 3 story building, that had been vacant for years. It was an eyesore. It was framed and sided, as you can see if you put in the address on google street view. (flip the map to the southeast, to see the home)

I'm sure the neighbors were happy to see it go. I would have liked to see it rehabbed, if possible. Anyone have the scoop on this property?

House was at 6412 Southwest and commercial was at 6400 Southwest; the house was sold in 2006 as part of an estate sale, condemned for structural issues in 2010. Both properties owned by Joseph Mayti of Brentwood (who owned the commercial since early 2000s). No permits for construction or consolidation of lots. The house was from 1883 and predated almost all the surrounding buildings; the commercial was from 1898.

Wow! I was way off on that address..

Anyhow, I'm totally shocked at how old that house was. That is too bad. I drove by that property everyday, on the way to work. Over the years, I watched it fall down, hoping there was something that could be done to save it. I guess the siding threw me off, regarding age. Then again, the rock foundation should have been a clue, that the house was old. That is too bad.

Any word on what will go on the lot?
