The two-story brick building with glass wall front that formerly housed the St. Louis Police Leadership Association was demolished recently. It was built in 1961. Permit has been pulled to build a parking lot. The owner (who bought the building in 2005) was reported to CSB in late 2010 and in 2012 for having a derelict and unsecured vacant property.
For a frame of reference, it's at a highly visible point on the curve of Hampton south of the Target and diagonal from the apartment building next to the Carrolton Bank. The owner of the soon-to-be lot (Joseph Mach) owns the building and business next door at 4631 Hampton (American Cleaners). He also owns a powerboat tour company in Miami, and a couple houses in the county, so I doubt he minds that his decision to build a parking lot is not in the best interest of my neighborhood.
(At least now I know not to patronize the American Cleaners.)
