Yay.

^I like that the article specifically, and correctly identifies the Fountain Park neighborhood. Way to go Post.
It seems there's no business that disregards the Delmar divide more than White Castle.

^ White Castle is in a league of its own and knows no boundaries. Not sure what league but still a league of its own.
Of course, my taste for White Castle was a few years back and revolved around a late night of drinking in whatever Chicago neighborhood we happen to be in at the moment and how far it was to the nearest White Castle. In more recent years, I just could not get myself to swing by the Maplewood White Castle at the corner of Big Bend and Manchester. Forgot to look last time I was in town to see if it was still in business. I think I was looking at that huge new gas station across the street in one direction and was hoping that Tim Hortons was already open when I was going in the other direction

I expect this White Castle to be hugely popular, especially at night. I just hope it doesn't become a crime magnet.
The White Castle up the street on Kingshighway, just like the Aldi, has been boarded up.
Damn! This pretty much sums it up.

Interesting how 30 years didn't seem to change that picture much, except for the cars. If only 1962-1992 had been so kind.
$300k permit for selective interior demo issued at 490 N Kingshighway.
And I looked again at what was once here. The descent into auto-oriented hell is so sad.

^Yeah. I cannot disagree with that. Even just inside of my lifetime it's been pretty bleak. I like to think we may have finally turned a corner. (It can be hard to tell when you're standing on it. But . . . maybe?)
