There are several renderings on the Water Tower & Park Preservation Society website regarding the Compton Hill Reservoir Park master plan. Actually, a very detailed description and details of the plan as well. The HOK Planning Group developed the master plan for the Compton Hill Reservoir Park.

I like it too. the park plan along with the streescaping and rehabs/new construction should have this area completely transformed within a couple of years.

This project couldn't get done fast enough.

This park is one of my all time favorites and it's location demands this renovation. The water tower is awesome.

I recently read that the tennis courts are being renovated. Anyone know the progress on this? Now that the "Naked Truth" statue is complete, I hope the efforts are on the courts. There aren't many free courts in these parts.

After working across the street for 3 years, I always saw a Piazza Navona style public plaza constructed around the water tower with 2 signature water features/fountains on either side and light the hell out of them at night. Replace a lot of the green space with a concrete/stone plaza. This works better in my head if a Grand Streetcar existed and there were more pedestrians, and also, the European style plaza has so much charm because of building perimeter density. I love the idea of associating the subtle night time visibility of the water tower from across town with knowing that at the base there is energetic activity. This space is so classicly understated STL cool and could be a unique hub for Shaw/Fox Park/Tower Grove areas. Maybe host a monthly or quarterly "Busker Fest" with street musicians, performers, street vendors, and the like.

StlToday - The Compton Hill Water Tower is falling apart. Can St. Louis save it?

Save it, expand it, monetize it.

It should be open every day, with attendants managing. Build two or three semi-outdoor restaurants/cafe in the park.

That park has such fantastic, sweeping views of downtown all the way out to Clayton. I suppose you do have to look right past I-44 to enjoy it, but Compton Hill Reservoir Park should be so much more treasured than it currently is.

The reservoir also has several panels along the perimeter that I think would be perfect for showcasing murals from local and international artists. The art with a view plus a cafe and opening up the water tower could become a great STL tourist location.

You could also have an event like Paint Louis that could draw in new artists each year.

This would be a great way to funnel some of the massive piles of cash the City has into a great project. I can't imagine the City would have to put that much into the CHWT.

Has anyone reached out to the Alderman and/or the Mayor's office? Is there a preservation-conscious organization looking to do something to help the Tower? Are there any historic designations that could get some money funneled towards it. We have to save this structure! This is a historic landmark. Iconic IMO!

RFQ-Archit./Engineer. Analysis of Facade and Struct. of the Compton Hill Water Tower, STL Water Div.

The City of St. Louis, Board of Public Service, is seeking Statements of Qualifications/proposals from professional architectural/engineering firms with extensive experience in investigation, analysis, testing and design of repairs for historic structures.
