I hate to do this, but i wish i had been warned. This place has the worst service i've ever experienced at a restaurant. Every single thing that could have gone wrong, did. From the wait for the table, 40 minute wait for drinks after we got to the table, to the food being served without utensils or napkins. apparently some servers didn't show up, so maybe this isn't the norm, but wow. I thought i was on the show Boiling Points. it became comical. sad, i'd love to see this restaurant survive, especially on the north end of Euclid. I hope they can fix this, three other tables were furious. It was like a group of five-year olds "playing restaurant". the food was good though, except that medium rare does not mean well-done..

In their defense, MR does mean well done in South America. Still, a place that operates like that won't last. Unless it's The Red Sea.
From my review, 2/20:
Our service was inconsistent. On a weeknight with about eight tables filled, a bar patron had to alert the staff that we were waiting to be seated, and the rest of the evening's service was awkward and slow, with both kitchen and servers to blame. Conversely, on a busy weekend evening, our server was extremely attentive. I'd also suggest closer attention to the various sound sources — overlapping music was coming from the bar and the dining room during both of our visits.
That's disappointing. I ride my bike past this restaurant sometimes and have been tempted to try it out. Never had Brasilian cuisine and would enjoy a churrascaria experience. But if I'm going to a nice restaurant, I expect at least average service...bonwich wrote:From my review, 2/20:

Too bad there's no reviews on Yelp. I'd love to hear some better reviews so I can give this place a shot. Ref: http://www.yelp.com/biz/coco-louco-brasil-st-louis

I have been twice and both times the food was excellent and the service slow... The first time I went, I went with a co-worker who is from Brazil. He explained to me that in Brazil, going out to eat is a definite social experience and is very laid back. He warned me coming in that I should not be in a hurry. Jorge, the owner (He used to own Cafe Brasil) is very nice and will explain everything on the menu to you if necessary, as will any of the servers.
A problem I ran into is that most of the servers were Brazilian and at times were hard to understand. That said, they were more than friendly, just a little slow with the service...
Make sure you try the Guarana "Soda", especially if you like Red Bull.

Precisely. I traveled out west with a Brazilian young lady last summer, and when the waiter brought our check one night, she said that in Brazil, it is considered poor service if the waiter brings the check before you ask for it. It is a sign that they are trying to rush you out the door.
She also made the observation, like your friend did, that Americans always seem to be in such a hurry when they dine out.
well, please go and tell me how the service is. If people think it's "culture to":
-wait an hour for a table after being told the wait was 10 minutes
-wait 20 minutes for your waiter, who originally told you he was not your waiter
-wait another 20 minutes for your drinks, only to blame the bartender
-to finally get your food, (which was good), and then not have silverware
-get your silverware, with no napkins
-see that almost EVERYONE in the restuarant is clearly disgruntled
-have people at the bar ask you if you've been before, because the service seemed sh*tty.
-to deal with a somewhat rude matre d
-then PLEASE go to this restaurant. i do think it looks very cool and again, the food was decent, but i won't be going back.
hey "culture" = sh*tty service, no thanks. i feel bad knocking this business, and I RARELY will say anything negative about a restaurant, but i only wish i was warned.

^ I was somewhat teasing about the cultural aspect and not discounting your opinion. We hear you.

My experience with Jorge's restaurants is that service is typically horrible and the food very good. Waiters that don't know how to open wine bottles and don't bother to greet you nor check on if your food is right. Specifically, I recall no mention on the menu of appetizers and the waiter didn't mention them either. Really bad usiness practices.
